Dynamic Chinoiserie

In essence the motifs have been inspired by classic Chinoiserie but Diane explored different themes and evolved the style by mixing motif, painting techniques and scale.

"Obi" Large silk wallpaper panel. Mixing a Chinese scene with more stylised Japanese image.

Art Deco inspired for this large painted screen and wallpaper, seen here with painted tiebacks and silks

"Poppy Drape", Painterly flowers, detailed Japanese inspired motifs, inky techniques with pearlised and metallic.

Mixing Classic French style floral painting with a Japanese inspired chrysanthemum.

Playing and mixing with Art Deco motifs and classical Chinoiserie scenes.

"Clarice"  Motifs insured by the floral art of Clarice Cliff and Japanese sinewy branches

"Fuji Wisteria" Two very grand silk panels given a sculptural treatment with a quilted pattern. Has to be seen to be believed. Can be used as a large set of wallhanging or bed quilts.

"Soaring" Striking painted silk panel integrating key Chinoiserie elements.

"Hokusai" Experimenting with paint, and embellishments, metalics and pearlised paints, stylised scenic evoking a dramatic image

"Cherry Blossom"......... usually a classic chinoiserie motif but Diane flattened the motif and increased the scale. A huge painted silk panel with stylised birds and decorative branches and wisteria.
